I would have no hesitation in recommending (DTC Consulting Ltd) Douglas to any company who are thinking of going for ISO 9001 Accreditation working towards UKAS approval. My company, ASC Aviation Ground Support Equipment needed to obtain UKAS approval Stages 1 and 2.  I contacted Douglas to assist us with formalising the paperwork and help with our company working manual.  Well with the help and assistance Douglas gave us we have passed stage one and we have stage two in place and we expect to have our final inspection on the 16th October which we are very confident that this will also be a pass.

I think that with the help that Douglas has given us has certainly saved us many months of time and effort and now that we have everything in place we are confident that we can bid for more contracts.

May I take this opportunity of thanking Douglas for all the help and assistance he has given us and I would like to wish him all the very best for whatever he does in the future because he deserves it.

I recommend Douglas Thornton unreservedly.

I have know Douglas Thornton for many years, initially when we were serving together in the Royal Logistics Corps and subsequently whilst employed by me in Agility Logistics Defense and Government Services. Douglas Thornton is an exceptional operator and an accomplished logistician.

Coming from an Army Supply background, he was chosen and then earned his spurs working Agility in Afghanistan where we were disposing by sale of all unwanted residual assets not required to be returned to the UK. Here he spent back-breaking days in Camp Bastion inventory checking and preparing Expeditionary Camp Infrastructure items for resale as completed working camps.

In doing so he enhanced the resale value to the MoD exponentially. In this task in an austere and dangerous environment he also showed great leadership in looking after his team and getting them to achieve exceptional results.

Subsequently, back in the UK, he was my first choice as Logistics Manager to establish a new contract opportunity to Receive, Store, Market and Sell Aviation Spares released for disposal by the UK MoD.

He set up three different warehouses, wrote and implemented the procedures and steered us through many MoD Defence Internal Audit (DIA) audits of our multi-million-pound inventory without a hiccup.

His work here was outstanding and the scale of the logistic effort significant.

Subsequently, I have focused his efforts at the whole raft of Compliances and Accreditation I need to run my enterprise. The list is extensive and all of which have been secured from scratch by Douglas’s attention to detail and sheer hard graft.

  • The scope of this work includes:

  • Design and implement Integrated Management Systems AS 9120, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

  • Deliver and implement transitional programmes for the International Organisation for Standardisation 2015.

  • Secure Section 5 Firearms storage accreditation.

  • Plan and conduct internal audits to in line with business objectives and the international standard.

  • Support and assist our business to identify financial and operational benefits of implementing an international standard (ISO).

  • Ensure conformance of our business to meet the legal requirements in line with the international standard (ISO).

  • Provide the opportunity for our business to continually improve and remain consistent with the intended outcomes of management systems.

In addition, Douglas has been a pivotal player in my Management Team. He has driven cost effective solutions into our business and is adept at finding pragmatic and workable solutions to tricky problems. Many of our Aviation customers have demanding compliance requirements of their own and we have secured ‘Authorised Supplier’ status to many major players in the industry.

Douglas Thornton joined Agility December 1st 2014 and very quickly became the lead for obtaining the required ISO & AS compliances to enable Agility Project Logistics Ltd. to undertake the DE&S Aviation Spares Disposals activity.

From a standing start, Douglas developed an Integrated Management System that was able to be audited in May 2015 and provided us with the initial ISO14001 recommendation. This was awarded in June 2015, and is the first such Environmental accreditation across the entirety of Agility worldwide.

Douglas continued to develop the IMS to incorporate the requirements of AS9120A and ISO 9001:2008, which was subsequently awarded in October 2015; again a first for Agility, and a noteworthy accomplishment within 12 months of starting a new business.

Douglas left Agility employment in July 2016 and became a contractor to Agility in the compliance role, and continued to support the Stoke on Trent operation. During this time, Douglas delivered the upgrade of both existing accreditations to the latest standard, along with adding OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation to our portfolio in July 2017.

I do not have any hesitation in recommending Douglas to any organisation seeking to achieve accreditation to any of the aforementioned standards.
