• 1st Party Audit = Internal Audit- A management control activity that ensures the internal business processes are consistent. 
• 2nd Party Audit = Supplier Audit- Verify your compliance with a supplier’s products or processes.
• 3rd Party Audit = Certification Body Audit- Conducted by your chosen Certification Body, certification awarded at this point. 

A potential customer from local authority, government contract and organisations who have a bidding process generally require your business to have ISO status. If bidding on a contract this may be a requirement before you even  get your foot in the door.
